The Law of Generational Myopia

Every generation believes its worldview is normal, permanent, and superior. It forgets that attitudes, tastes, and moral fashions shift—often faster than individuals can accept. This blindness makes people misread the spirit of the times and cling to what is already fading.

Historical awareness gives you leverage. When you see the larger wave, you stop treating present conditions as eternal. You notice which values are rising, which behaviors are losing power, and which ideas are about to become common sense.

The point is not to worship trends. It is to understand them as forces that shape behavior. When you can sense a cultural tide early, you can position yourself before the crowd arrives—then you look prophetic when you were simply attentive.
