The Law of Envy
Envy is admiration with poison in it. It begins as comparison, then turns into a need to diminish what threatens your self-worth. Because envy feels shameful, it often hides behind moral judgments and subtle sabotage.
The fragile ego can’t celebrate others without feeling reduced. It seeks little victories—gossip, dismissal, undercutting—anything that restores a sense of superiority without doing real work.
Your defense is awareness and restraint. Recognize envy in yourself before it steers you, and recognize it in others before you trust them with your momentum. The most dangerous rival is often the “friend” who smiles while quietly resenting your growth.
